" … scientific integrity,
[is] a principle of scientific thought that corresponds to a kind of utter
honesty -- a kind of leaning over backwards. … Details that could throw doubt on
your interpretation must be given, if you know them. You must do the best you
can -- if you know anything at all wrong, or possibly wrong -- to explain it. …
[you must] give all of the information to help others to judge the value of your
contribution; not just the information that leads to judgment in one particular
direction or another."
- Richard Feynman (1918-1988) in his lecture "Cargo Cult Science," 1974

Honorton
Abstract
Most academic psychologists
do not yet accept the existence of psi, anomalous processes of information or
energy transfer (such as telepathy or other forms of extrasensory perception)
that are currently unexplained in terms of known physical or biological
mechanisms. We believe that the replication rates and effect sizes achieved by
one particular experimental method, the ganzfeld procedure, are now sufficient
to warrant bringing this body of data to the attention of the wider
psychological community. Competing meta-analyses of the ganzfeld database are
reviewed, 1 by R. Hyman (1985), a skeptical critic of psi research, and the
other by C. Honorton (1985), a parapsychologist and major contributor to the
ganzfeld database. Next the results of 11 new ganzfeld studies that comply with
guidelines jointly authored by R. Hyman and C. Honorton (1986) are summarized.
Finally, issues of replication and theoretical explanation are discussed

The Skeptic News attempts to
help users find recent skeptic-related news by helping those operating
skeptic-related web sites to publicize recent changes. In other words, it acts
as a "What's New" page for skeptics.
Comment: you can, eventually find there, some bigots of the skepticism,
but a reasonable doses of skepticism don't hurt .

Ball Lighting Links
BALL LIGHTNING does not look like "lightning." Instead, it usually appears as a
mysterious glowing sphere which drifts through the air. It is typically the size
of a grapefruit, but sometimes appears as small as a pea, or as large as a bus.
It sometimes drifts through the air, but can also bounce along the ground. It
usually lasts only a few seconds, but sometimes persists much longer. Various
colors of "BL" have been seen, sometimes it changes colors, and sometimes it has
internal structures such as layers or moving sparks. Most researchers agree that
it is real, yet its nature is still highly controversial, and no sensible
theories yet exist to explain it...
